Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Write Chinese is provided by Shanghai Dazhuo Information Technology Co., Ltd. ("we"). This policy explains how the app handles your information. If you have any question, contact us at zhenguo.lu@icloud.com.

2. Information we do not collect

We do not collect any of the following:

• No name, email address, phone number or any other contact detail.
• No account, sign-in or password — the app has no registration at all.
• No device identifier, advertising identifier or location data.
• No analytics, usage statistics, crash-reporting or advertising data.
• No content you type, draw, save or scan.

3. What is stored, and where

Your word book (favorites), the characters you got wrong, your practice progress and your settings (such as font size and grid style) are stored only in the local storage of your own iPhone or iPad. They are not transmitted to us or to anyone else. Deleting the app removes them permanently.

4. Camera, photos and handwriting

Camera and photo access is used only when you choose to recognise Chinese text from an image. Recognition is performed on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. The picture you take or select is processed locally, is not uploaded, and is not stored by us. Handwriting input is likewise processed entirely on your device. You can revoke camera or photo access at any time in iOS Settings.

5. Audio and pronunciation

Pronunciation is played from audio files bundled with the app, or by the system text-to-speech engine. No microphone recording is used or uploaded.

6. The built-in browser

The app includes a small built-in web browser so you can read web pages while you study. When you use it, your device requests the pages directly from the websites you visit — the same way Safari would. Those websites may receive information such as your IP address or cookies, and their own privacy policies apply to that. We do not operate a proxy, we do not monitor, log, record or store the pages you visit, and we do not build any profile of your browsing.

7. Purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, your payment card or any billing detail — we only receive an anonymous confirmation from Apple that a purchase is active. Apple's handling of that data is described in Apple's own privacy policy.

8. Children

The app is suitable for learners of any age and has no social features, no chat and no user-generated content that is shared with others. Because we collect no personal information at all, we do not knowingly collect information from children either.

9. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade or share any user information, because we do not have any to share.

10. Network access

The app is fully usable offline. Network access is used only for (a) the pages you open in the built-in browser and (b) the optional AI explanation feature, which sends only the single Chinese character you asked about — no personal information and nothing else — to retrieve a dictionary explanation. If you never use those features, the app needs no network at all.

11. Changes to this policy

If the app's data practices ever change, we will update this page and revise the date above before the change takes effect.
